Carlinhos Brown beats drum for Rio 2010 Homeless World Cup

Mon 2nd Aug 2010 | Football Industry Events

Six-time Grammy award winner, Carlinhos Brown, has contributed his support, music and voice to the Rio 2010 Homeless World Cup 60 second promo launched today. The 8th Rio 2010 Homeless World Cup takes place from 19 – 26 September 2010 at Copacabana Beach, Rio, Brazil, in 50 days time.

Carlinhos Brown said: “The Rio 2010 Homeless World Cup hits Copacabana Beach, Rio, Brazil this September. This is Brazil's opportunity to demonstrate that football can change the world. Are you in? I am."

Using animation and street art the promo highlights the power of football to transform lives and features four ex-Homeless World Cup players leading extraordinary lives. Patrick Mbeu, Team France is now a coach with Paris St Germain F.C.; Michele da Silva, Team Brazil is a member of Brazil’s U20's national women’s squad; David Duke, Team Scotland is now the founder of Street Soccer Scotland using football with over 500 homeless people; and Nathan Bowen, Team England is a community coach with Brighton and Hove Albion F.C.

Created in collaboration with Promax UK, Beautiful TV and Nike, the promo is a combination of live action shot on the streets of Rio, Brazil in April and animation of stills from a shoot in London, UK involving the four ex-Homeless World Cup players, global ambassadors for the organisation.

Watch the promo film here.
