FC Barcelona and French Football Federation join Soccerex Asian Forum conference agenda

Thu 6th May 2010 | Football Industry Events

Gerard Houllier (Technical Director, French Football Federation) and Albert Capellas (Senior Youth Coordinator, FC Barcelona) have joined the illustrious speaker line-up at this summer’s Soccerex Asian Forum in Singapore. Both speakers have an incredible pedigree in unearthing globally renowned players and will speak on a session entitled “Player Development: the identification and progression of talent”.

Gerard Houllier, former Liverpool and Olympique Lyonnais manager and current Technical Director of the French Football Federation, will draw upon his experiences overseeing France’s national football centre, Clairefontaine, which produced stars such as Thierry Henry and Nicolas Anelka, as well as managing first-hand the meteoric rise of players such as Steven Gerrard.

FC Barcelona’s much envied ‘La Cantera’ youth academy has been a conveyor belt of talent over the years and accounted for three of the top five players listed for the FIFA World Player of the year 2009: Andrea Iniesta, Lionel Messi and Xavi.

Speaking exclusively to Soccerex.com Albert Capellas commented that “We provide a holistic approach to player development that not only produces world-class players but also sporting gentlemen. This forum is an excellent platform to engage our ethos with the global football community and hopefully provide a real learning experience for Soccerex delegates”.

The Soccerex Asian Forum (28-29 July, Singapore) will take place in the biggest football market in the world and will enable an exchange of ideas between the west and the east and allow partnerships to be forged between European and Asian football rights holders and businesses. For further information about who is speaking, attending and exhibiting at this event please visit www.soccerex.com/asia or call +44 (0)208742 7100.
