Sportingbet.com extend Wolves sponsorship deal

Fri 7th May 2010 | Football Sponsorship

Sportingbet.com has extended its sponsorship of Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers for another two years.

The seven-figure deal has been agreed with a full year to run on the existing contract. It ensures that the online bookmaker's logo will continue to appear on Wolves' home and away jerseys and training kit until the end of the 2012/13 season, while fan initiatives such as the free "Accumulator" online game will also be retained. Financial details were not disclosed, but the agreement is thought to be close to the record kit manufacturing deal signed by the club this week with Burrda.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey called the deal "a major off-the pitch achievement" and a "huge endorsement" of the club, adding: "It bucks the trend in football, where many clubs are either struggling to retain their sponsor or to secure one at all. Sportingbet.com has proved to be a fantastic partner over the last season and we're delighted our relationship will continue until, at the very least, the end of the 2012/13 season."

Andrew McIver, group chief executive at Sportingbet.com, said: "Sportingbet.com's partnership with Wolverhampton Wanderers has been a huge success and we are delighted to extend for a further two years. Wolves' fantastic supporters have really engaged with our brand during our first season. The club's continuing success on the pitch along with their status as a Premier League side has also resulted in excellent global exposure for our brand."
