LINEKER BACKS LEICESTER CITY’S SPORT RELIEF FIXTURE

Wed 17th Mar 2010 | Marketing & PR

The M69 derby against Coventry City on Sunday, March 21, k.o 2pm is Leicester City’s official Sport Relief fixture as the Foxes join legend Gary Lineker in encouraging people to get active, raise money and change lives.

Leicester City is joining the whole nation in rising to the challenge by encouraging fans to take part in a Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile prior to the Coventry City fixture.  The Leicester Braunstone Grove Mile and the Leicester Racecourse Mile are just two of hundreds of Sport Relief Miles taking place across the country on Sunday March 21st

Foxes legend Gary Lineker said: “I’m asking all Foxes fans to back Sport Relief by making a donation at sportrelief.com, and by doing a mile before you come to the match. All the money raised really makes a massive difference and helps transform lives, so please give anything you can.”

“Sport Relief is a great way for the whole sporting world to engage with a good cause,” added City’s defender Bruno Berner.

“We are extremely happy to support it and draw attention to the cause at the Coventry City fixture. I would encourage our fans to make a donation to Sport Relief and help in any way that they can. It’s an honour to be a part of this initiative as it brings everybody involved in sport together.”

On the day, City’s players will be warming up in Sport Relief t-shirts, and Filbert Fox will be wearing the Sport Relief shirt during the match. The Walkers Stadium will host fun pre-match events, including football competitions, giveaways and a collection in aid of Sport Relief.

For more information and details of how to get involved visit www.sportrelief.com.
