Doncaster Rovers FC Shirt Sponsorship Deal

Wed 27th Jan 2010 | Football Sponsorship

Championship football team Doncaster Rovers have announced that they will be seeking a new shirt sponsor from the 2010/11 season.

Current shirt sponsor Wright Investments are currently in the third and final year of their three year deal with the club and the decision has been made by both parties to not renew the sponsorship agreement.

Commercial Manager of Doncaster Rovers, Laura Whiting said “We would like to thank Wright Investments for their support of the club during the past three years. Since they joined the club in 2007 Doncaster Rovers have progressed massively and are now recognised as an established Championship team, renowned for playing great football.”

“Our change in league status and increased national exposure has increased our brand value and this means the club are now looking for a new deal for our main club sponsor. Having Wright Investments as a shirt sponsor during the past few seasons has created mutual benefits for both parties and the decision to end the shirt sponsorship has also coincided with them having a change in advertising strategy.”

Managing Director of Wright Investments, Colin Wright was also quick to reflect on the great success of the sponsorship deal too adding “As a company we have had a fantastic time associating with Doncaster Rovers during the past few seasons. It has been great to have been part of Doncaster Rovers continued success and during our sponsorship not only have we been with the club to Wembley and won the League 1 play off final but we also witnessed first hand an amazing start to life in the Championship.”

“When we originally set up our sponsorship deal with Doncaster Rovers the aim was to grow our brand regionally and nationally and we have extremely successful in doing this. Despite the economic climate our business has definitely benefited from the association with Doncaster Rovers”

With Doncaster Rovers having a meteoric rise through the football league during the past few seasons and gaining nationwide acclaim, it is easy to see why the sponsorship deal has been successful. At the beginning of the Millennium the club were in the Nationwide Conference, however this season the club are already halfway through their second season in The Coca Cola Championship and sit just 7 points off the playoff’s with games in hand.

During recent years, cup campaigns have seen the club defeat Premiership teams such as Aston Villa and Manchester City and the team have won two major finals, lifting the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and defeating Leeds United in the League 1 Playoff final at Wembley.

This has led the club to be officially named in a report published by The Football Pools as “The biggest over achievers in football since the Premier League began”.
Laura summarised “We now look forward to taking our Club Sponsorship to the open market and we are confident that we can attract another high-profile sponsor who can also benefit from the association with such a successful and ambitious football club.”

Doncaster Rovers have confirmed the club will be looking to talk to potential sponsors in the immediate future; any interested parties should contact the Club directly.
