Nottingham Forest in management double blow

Mon 3rd Oct 2011 | Football Club Management

Following the announcement that Steve McClaren had resigned from his role as manager, Nottingham Forest Chairman, Nigel Doughty has also announced his intention to step down

Forest confirmed in a statement that McClaren, had informed Chairman Nigel Doughty of his decision after Sunday’s 3-1 home defeat by Birmingham and is understood he has left the club without compensation - nor will he be seeking any.

However, in a double blow for the club, Chairman Nigel Doughty has also announced his intention to step down as Chairman of the club at the end of the season after 10 years in the role.

It’s understood he will continue to support the club financially through the implementation of Financial Fair Play rules, which are expected to be introduced in the Championship next season.

As such, he will continue to ensure that the club continues to honour all it's current financial commitments as these new rules are introduced.

Forest have now stated that their search for a new Chairman will commence immediately.
