FSIF makes grant offer to Supporters Direct

Fri 15th Jul 2011 | Money & Finance

The Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF) Board has agreed a grant of £268,292 to contribute to the funding of Supporters Direct’s running costs, provide services and expertise for individual supporter’s trusts and provide a stable financial footing for the organisation as it moves forward.

The Fans’ Fund panel will meet again in August to discuss the outstanding additional grant applications from Supporters Direct.

Peter McCormick, acting Chairman of the FSIF, said: "I am pleased that Supporters Direct was able to satisfy the criteria for Fans’ Fund grant funding to support the organisation and its ongoing work in providing expertise and guidance to supporter trusts throughout the game.

“Based on discussions with Brian Burgess we are confident that the future governance and remit of Supporters Direct will enable the broader trust movement to benefit from a well funded and focused organisation, delivering a quality service for their members."

Brian Burgess, acting Chief Executive of Supporters Direct, added: “We are grateful to the FSIF and the Fans’ Fund for making this grant, which will enable the critical service Supporters Direct undertakes for its members and fans seeking to create supporter’s trusts to continue. I look forward to working with the panel members to ensure that the remainder of our applications are successful also.

“The professionalism of the Supporters Direct staff during this period of uncertainty has been excellent and I am pleased that they will be able to continue working to help the trust movement with the passion and diligence they are known for.”
