FA Approve Independent Non-Executive Directors
Wed 29th Jun 2011 | Football Governance
The FA have moved a step closer to appointing an independent board of directors after the FA Council approved the principle of two independent non-executive directors on the Board.
Following approval by The FA Board last week, The FA Council announced that the decision will now be put to an Extraordinary General Meeting of FA Shareholders in August.
David Bernstein, FA Chairman, commented: “I am very pleased with this decision by the Board and Council. It represents an important step in developing stronger governance within The FA.”
Bernstein is pushing through the change as part of his programme to reform the organisation and won the backing of the council at a meeting on Tuesday.
