Former Blackburn Chairman Joins Man City's Operations Team
Mon 27th Jun 2011 | Football Club Management
Manchester City have announced the appointment of former Blackburn Rovers chairman, John Williams to the football club as of 1st July.
Reporting into Brian Marwood, highly respected Williams joins the football operations team and will provide support in a number of areas which include assisting with the high volume of senior and youth contracts, whether for renewal or disposal and also working closely with our football legal and secretarial functions.
Speaking of the news, Chief Executive Office Garry Cook said,
"John Williams is a hugely respected figure in the football world and I admire him greatly. Unsurprisingly, a number of organisations were keen to work with him and I was therefore delighted when he accepted my offer to join us.
The Football Operations arm of the club is expanding rapidly. The priorities in this area are that of supporting the manager and the first team staff as well as the development of our academy and implementation of our youth development plan.
"We must ensure that our targets are not impacted by the high volume of daily operational tasks. John’s support of Brian and the football operations team will enable us to ensure those targets are met and he will be a great asset to the club."
