Doncaster strengthen commercial department

Mon 4th Apr 2011 | Marketing & PR

Doncaster Rovers have moved to further strengthen their ranks this week, appointing Lisa Meek as one of the Club’s commercial executives.

Lisa will be known to many businessmen and women in Doncaster, having worked previously for motor dealership and Associate Shirt Sponsors Stoneacre. She will now assist the Club’s commercial department with business partnerships and hospitality.

Despite being the newest member of Doncaster Rovers Football Club, Lisa had been acquainted with the Club through her association with Stoneacre – and was immediately hooked by Chairman John Ryan’s business philosophy.

“Whilst I was with Stoneacre, I handled some of the PR opportunities and instantly realised that there was a lot more to come from the partnership which was really exciting” explains Lisa on her initial connection with Rovers.

“I came to a networking night at the Club and it was brilliant. John Ryan was a special guest speaker and as he spoke, I thought that he understood what I believe about just how powerful Doncaster Rovers are within Doncaster. I think you truly need to come and see it to realise it. Doncaster Rovers is so much more than football and can potentially do great things for businesses.”

“I worked for BMW in Doncaster for seven years, prior to working with Stoneacre in Dewsbury, so I know plenty of businesses in the town – and now I am back!”

Lisa now joins Laura Whiting, Andrew Whitham and Daniel Ireland in the Club’s commercial department – and will look into creating new partnerships and welcoming supporters to the Club’s hospitality areas.

“Another great thing I have noticed is just how accessible the Club’s hospitality is. It’s there, it’s available and it is doable for supporters just wishing to enjoy a game in different surroundings. You’re not treated any differently from regulars – and people enjoying one-off hospitality really enjoyed themselves. It’s another area of supporters’ club that they can be involved in.”

Lisa’s arrival at Doncaster Rovers has been met with delight by Rovers’ Head of Commercial Laura Whiting, who commented:

“Lisa has a real passion for building great partnerships within the local community and was just what we were looking for in appointing a new addition to our commercial team. She shares our same beliefs and philosophy on how businesses should work together and portray a positive image for the town of Doncaster as a whole.”

“I look forward to introducing her to our many clients and supporters working with her as a key member of my team.”
