Chelsea offer upgraded mobile app
Tue 21st Dec 2010 | IT & Technology
Chelsea Football Club has linked up with Perform to launch Chelsea TV through an upgraded version of the Barclays Premier League club’s existing mobile application.
Originally available to fans only via Sky TV, Chelsea Digital Media will now offer a live simulcast and video-on-demand offering of Chelsea TV through www.chelseafc.com and now also via the app.
For an extra 59p, Chelsea TV customers will be able to access highlights, exclusive interviews, daily news headlines, training ground reports and live audio commentary of all of Chelsea's matches through the app. Non-Chelsea TV customers can also access the content for £2.39 per month.
As part of the enhanced service, the new 'My Chelsea' section will enable fans to store their favourite stories or videos within the app. "As with Chelsea TV Online, the need to allow greater fan interactivity through the application is apparent in all the available features," said Oliver Slipper, joint-CEO of Perform.
The app, which Perform launched jointly with Jigsaw, is one of a growing number of Smartphone football applications that the digital media specialist has unveiled this year.
Cas Knight, managing director of Chelsea Digital Media, said: "Giving Chelsea TV customers free access to content via our mobile app is further evidence of our desire to be a leader in developing digital products and give our fans value for money along with an enhanced experience to content on the move."
