England face anxious wait after excellent final presentation
Thu 2nd Dec 2010 | FIFA
FIFA will make their final decisions on who will host the World Cups in 2018/2022 later today after the final presentations were concluded this morning.
The England bid team will be hopeful of securing the floating voters after an excellent final presentation from David Cameron, Prince William, David Beckham and star of the show Eddie Afekafe.
In what was a truly heart felt and emotional pitch to FIFA, the young coach from Manchester, spoke of how “football changed my life.”
"I grew up in one of the roughest parts of Manchester, most of the guys I grew up with were in gangs – some still are, some are in prison," he said. "What they didn't get but I got was an opportunity – and that was through football."
England’s pitch showed how we would be able to give others across the world similar opportunities and that the legacy would stretch beyond our shores with the promise to spend as much money as FIFA on its global legacy projects.
Beckham spoke of wanting to make his grandfather proud and Prince William made the delegation laugh when explaining England’s ability to organize huge events - such as his own wedding.
But now is the anxious wait and the ball is now in FIFA’s court after the Russian’s gave a strong presentation with their final pitch to FIFA, “lets make history together.”
The decisions will be made at around 3pm and will be streamed live on FIFA.com
