Huddersfield Town announce partnership with international engineering firm

Huddersfield Town Football Club has today announced a new partnership with international engineering firm David Brown.

A Huddersfield based company, David Brown are currently celebrating their 150-year anniversary and have offices in the United States, Australia, South Africa, Europe, China and Thailand. They are globally known as an industry leader in the manufacturing sector and are famous for their part in the production of the world-famous Aston Martin DB series of cars, featured in the recent James Bond movies.

The partnership between David Brown and Huddersfield Town, who were recently named League One Family Club of the Year at the 2010 Football League Awards, will be community-focused and begins with an innovative scheme will see the football club will use its links within schools across Kirklees and Calderdale to challenge kids, with the assistance of David Brown’s engineers, to build a peddle-driven go-kart that they can then race against other schools around the Stadium.

World renowned motivational speaker Steve Black, who is currently Performance Coach at Huddersfield Town, will also give a series of motivational talks to employees of David Brown over the next few months and other pioneering activities are in the planning stages.

“We are delighted to welcome David Brown into the Huddersfield Town family and we are very excited about how the relationship will develop over the coming years,” Jarvis explained today.

“Through our conversations, it soon became very clear that there were obvious synergies between respective ethoses of the two companies; both organisations are extremely keen to give something back to the local community and it will be great to combine our resources to deliver a series of top-class initiatives to the area.”

David Brown’s Managing Director Ian Farquhar commented: “We are constantly looking to find different ways in which we can work with the local community and develop skills and we are delighted that working with Huddersfield Town we are able to raise awareness of Engineering within schools, whilst building a relationship with the Club.”
