Wolves launch North American Academy

Wed 11th Jan 2012 | Football Club Management

Premier League outfit, Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed a partnership with Sports Management Company, Global Image Sports, to launch its North American Soccer Academy.

Phase one of the project will see Wolves' Academy partner with a select number of youth soccer clubs across the United States and Canada. Each partner club's coaches and players will have the opportunity to work with the Academy coaches of Wolves in both North America and the United Kingdom, offering an insight into the player development program of one of England's top football Academies.

Academy Manager, Kevin Thelwell said of the launch, "We are looking forward to working with Global Image Sports and bringing our Academy to North America. The agreement with Global Image Sports allows us to achieve the right balance between continuing to develop and increase the recruitment of local, domestic talent, whilst taking advantage of the globalisation of the game, particularly in North America, which is why this partnership is so exciting for Wolves and our Academy."

The Wolves North American Academy will be hosting a series of Elite Player ID Events with its partner clubs during 2012, culminating in the Wolves National Camp, directed by Kevin Thelwell and his senior staff from the Academy.
