Peter Ridsdale appointed Chairman of Preston North End

Preston North End Football Club have announced that Peter Ridsdale has agreed to become full-time Chairman of Football.
The former Chairman of Leeds United and Cardiff City has, over the last 12 months, worked for the administrator of Plymouth Argyle Football Club helping to conclude a successful sale and thereby ensuring their survival.
Peter said of his appointment: "I am delighted and privileged to be joining Preston North End Football Club. Preston North End is a football club that has an incredible football heritage, a large and loyal supporter base and a club that frankly ought to be competing to join the Premier League rather than playing in League One.
"I sincerely hope that working with Preston North End's existing staff and with the continued support of its fan base, I can play a part in ensuring that we return to the Championship as a minimum in the not too distant future."
Ridsdale takes over at the club after former Chairman Maurice Lindsay, announced he was stepping down following a long period of illness.
Speaking of his decision to step down, Lindsay said, "I have spent much of the last three months in hospital recovering from Septicaemia which occurred following a knee operation in August.
To be honest it has been a difficult time and I am only just beginning to recover. I need time to rebuild my health and it would not be fair to the football club if I did not give it 100% attention. My health will recover fully but I need to be sensible."
