Steel giants agree to back Steelmen for 2011/12
Corby Town Football Club have announced they have secured a generous sponsorship deal with Tata Steel to become the Steelmen's principal shirt sponsors next season.
The initial arrangement with the Tata Group’s flagship company will run for the 2011/12 season and will see the Tata Steel brand appear on the front of Corby Town's new home playing kit, manufactured by Joma.
Corby Town's Acting Chairman David Mallinger commented: “We are naturally delighted that Tata Steel, as one of the biggest employers in the town of Corby, has agreed to become our principle sponsor. This agreement initially covers a single season, but we hope it is the beginning of a mutually beneficial and long-lasting relationship with the club.
“It is a major boost for us ahead of an exciting time in the club's history and we can't wait to develop the possibilities that this partnership will offer Corby Town.”
The Tata Steel acquisition of Corus created one of the world’s ten largest steel producers. Now renamed Tata Steel, the European operations also comprise Europe’s second largest steelmaker.
Corus was created in 1999 from the merger of British Steel and its Dutch equivalent and the British Steel brand appeared on the front of Corby Town's shirts in the late 1980s, the then Corus also sponsored the club in the early 2000s.
Pleased that the company has been able to renew their links with the club, Bob Guildford of Tata Steel added: “Tata Steel is delighted to be sponsoring Corby Town Football Club again. We have a long association with both the town and the club and it's great to play a part as principal sponsors.”
