Leicester City announce management restructure

Leicester City Football Club have announced the appointments of Chief Executive Officer Susan Whelan and Finance Director Simon Capper.

Current Director of Football Administration and Head of Football Operations, Andrew Neville will take on a new role as the Football Director of the club, with responsibility for player acquisitions in addition to his current role, but will not sit on the board of directors.

Both Susan Whelan and Simon Capper replace Lee Hoos and Mark Johnson respectively, who left the club recently as part of a management restructure.

Speaking about the restructure, Leicester City Vice-Chairman, Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn, said told the club’s official website: "We thank Lee and Mark for their hard work and service during their time at the club and wish them both the best for their respective futures."

Miss Susan Whelan is the Senior Executive Vice-President of King Power and joined the board of directors of Leicester City in December 2010, along with Club Chairman Vichai Raksriaksorn and Miss Supornthip Choungrangsee, following Asia Football Investments' takeover in August 2010.

Whelan, who brings with her a wealth of commercial experience and success working with King Power, is a landmark appointment becoming the club's first ever female Chief Executive Officer and will ultimately, be responsible for the day-to-day running of the club, focusing her attentions on all commercial activity.

Incoming Chief Executive Officer Susan Whelan, said: "Leicester City is a proud club, with a great history and it is an honour for me to take on this role.

"I have been on the club's board of directors for over six months now and as such have a greater understanding of how the club works and the leadership required for this role. I am also fortunate to have people around me with great experience and knowledge of the football industry, which will aid my transition.

"One of the biggest challenges we face will be making the club self-sufficient. To even attempt to do this we must work with the local community, the supporters and businesses, whilst creating a venue that people choose to use throughout the week and not just on matchdays.

“This will build upon the work we are currently doing to improve the supporter experience, which has begun with the implementation of video screens at the stadium. This is just the start of our plans.

"I believe that we are assembling a talented collection of staff, both on and off the field, supporting the owners' commitment to excellence, so we have much reason for optimism. We have the foundations set in place for success, but it is now important that everyone continues to work hard, both individually and collectively, to deliver success as we enter an exciting new era at Leicester City."

Leicester City Vice-Chairman, Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn, added: "Susan, Simon and Andrew will all form an integral part of the leadership and direction of the club.

"We are very pleased to have such a wealth of experience and business talent at the forefront of the club's administration staff, supporting our world-class manager, Sven-Goran Eriksson, as we attempt to return Leicester City to the Premier League."
