214 foreign players left England in 2010

Mon 11th Apr 2011 | Football Club Management

214 foreign footballers left England during 2010 according to a report released today.

The figures revealed that of the 214 players that left England to play in other countries, 111 left the Premier League, an average of 5.5 per club.

High profile moves during 2010 included Javier Mascherano’s £22m move from Liverpool to Barcelona, Alberto Aquilani from Liverpool to Juventus, Michael Ballack from Chelsea to Bayern Leverkusen and Robinho from Man City to AC Milan.

The report shows the challenge that many players face to settle down at the heart of the world football economy.

The Global Player Migration Report compiled by The Professional Football Players Observatory analyses the international transfers that occurred in 2010 to 104 leagues belonging to 69 national associations from around the world.

The report also showed that Premier League clubs in 2010 imported players from 27 national associations.
