Huddersfield Town Named League One Family Club Of The Year For 2010

Huddersfield Town has won the E.ON Family Club of the Year award for League One at the 2010 Football League Awards, incorporating FourFourTwo's Top 50 Football League Players.
The Club received the award at a gala dinner at Grosvenor House, Park Lane on Sunday evening in front of 900 attendees from clubs, sponsors and the football industry.
This season Town launched a new 'Family Information Centre' situated just outside the stadium which offers families a first port of call on matchdays for any information they may need before the game.
Also catching the eye of the judges was the 'Fantastic Family Stand' which not only lives up to its name by offering fantastic value for money season tickets aimed at families but also has activity such as face painting, jugglers, free-gifts, balloon modellers and interactive branding that includes a chance for children to measure themselves against the team's goalkeeper!
The Club have teamed up with 200 schools in a successful '7's scheme', whereby children are invited to a game on their 7th birthday and given a free replica shirt.
Nigel Clibbens, Chief Executive of Huddersfield Town, picked up the award and said: "This is great for people at the Club. They are unsung heroes - we have an army of people working hard and it is very pleasing to see it being rewarded.
"We have a new owner at the Club who has brought investment, the Club is in a ‘New Era’ and we are taking a fresh look at things. We want to establish Huddersfield Town as a respected team - we can't rely on just the players to do everything, the Club needs to work hard."
Town enjoyed more success on the evening – the Club’s Matchday Magazine 'Give Us An H' was named as the best programme in League One and the community scheme also won the ‘Sports Participation’ Award for its cheerleader scheme.
Each programme was judged on a number of criteria including excellence in design, quality and diversity of content and value for money - a category in which Town have already won Programme Monthly's League One Award.
Head of Communications, Alisdair Straughan said: "There was a lot of competition in this category and we are all very proud to have won this award and for the Club to be recognised nationally.
"In the Club's New Era, the programme has taken a huge leap forward and we are confident that anyone who picks one up will be impressed with what they see. Dave Sykes the Editor and Paul Haylings the Designer work tirelessly to produce something that our fans will pick up and be proud that it comes from Huddersfield Town.
"It's all done in house and there is something for everyone in there, from comment on the football industry, Club insider information and player interviews to step-by-step football skills by freestyler John Farnworth and the Big Quiz.
"It's a great read, looks fantastic and is value for money and I would urge anyone who has not picked one up yet to do so."
