Ashton United appoint new board members
Tue 25th Jan 2011 | Football Club Management
Evo-Stik League Premier Division club Ashton United have announced the introduction of two 'new’ board members, Andrew Evans and Steve Hobson.
Local man Andrew Evans has been a regular supporter at Hurst Cross over the past few seasons and become more and more involved with the club recently. Away from the terraces Andrew has previously supported a number of sponsored events at the club and raised a considerable sum of money towards the costs of the defence of the Marcus Hallows legal case, presenting a welcome cheque to chairman David Aspinall at the final home game of last season against Durham.
Steve Hobson played a few games in goal for Ashton in the mid 1970s at the very start of his playing career which went on to include the GB Police XI, a Norweigan FA Cup Final and both Southern League and Northern Premier League football. Fans of semi-pro football will primarily recall Steve from over 300 games with Rossendale, as well as three years as the club's Chairman after his playing days were over.
Like Andrew, Steve has also been involved in fundraising and has business and practical experience that will serve the club well in these challenging financial times.
In addition, Steve will also be returning to the League Management Committee, which he left after Rossendale's relegation at the end of last season.
