Aldershot Town Football Club appoints new board of directors as they seek to establish themselves as a viable football business.
Aldershot Town Chief Executive Peter Duffy issued a statement today reinforcing the Board’s intention to build a sustainable future for the Football Club, in the Football League, by establishing it as a viable business for decades to come.
In the statement Duffy said; “To achieve this, it is vitally important that we formulate a clear vision and that we set ourselves meaningful and ambitious targets, with milestones. We will then establish our strategy to delivery these.
“Integral to that strategy will be a three-to-five year Financial Plan, which will enable us to model costs and revenues under different scenario, e.g. a base case and a more optimistic case.
“Fulfilling this requirement is the role and responsibility of the Board, and it is therefore essential that the Board has at its disposal a diversity of capabilities, experience and personalities so that the output is of high quality and will serve to unify all the different stakeholders of the Football Club.
“To this end, I am delighted to announce the following appointments to the Board, as non-executive directors for a period of approximately three months. By the end of which time, we hope to have created the ‘Shaping our Future’ document.”
The new board will be made up of the following people;
Shahid Azeem: Managing Director, Arcom IT Ltd. Shahid is an award-winning, British-Pakistani entrepreneur widely known amongst Surrey's business leaders. He has been named by RBS as “one of the top 100 most influential Muslims in the UK” and was named Asian Entrepreneur of the Year in 2006-07. A former Chairman of Woking FC, he has extensive experience in establishing successful businesses, principally IT and telecommunications, and is passionate about the contribution that the Club can make through “Football in the Community”.
Per Breimyr: Group Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, Coca Cola Hellenic. Vastly experienced in “account management” and the building of commercial brands.
Ian Dawkins: Managing Director, Hi-Speed Services Limited. Successful entrepreneur with 25 years experience in local business, and particular expertise in logistics and operations management. Lifelong fan whose father played for Aldershot FC, and grandfather, Sidney Bateman, purchased one of the first shares in Aldershot FC in 1928. Ian is a Director of the ATFC Player Share Scheme and serves as a Trustee of Football in the Community.
Damon Walker: Director, Ioniq. Aldershot born and educated, also a lifelong fan of the Club. Vastly experienced in corporate finance and project finance, with a particular passion for managing property portfolios for institutional and private clients.
Unfortunately, Tony Cotugno is standing down from the Board to concentrate on the expansion of his own business. Tony, a Director for two years, contributed behind the scenes during the promotion season of 2007-08 and has provided continuity during a turbulent period for the Board of Directors.
