Birmingham owner clarifies club's spending plans

Birmingham City’s owner, Carson Yeung has been forced to clarify the club’s spending plans after Alex McLeish bemoaned a lack of cash.
According to the mirror newspaper, City boss McLeish last week suggested the club would only bring in players on loan in January.
Owner Yeung was also disappointed after a busy summer acquiring Nikola Zigic, Ben Foster, Jean Beausejour, Alexander Hleb, Martin Jiranek and Enric Valles. And yesterday acting-chairman Peter Pannu insisted money was available if necessary next month.
He said: “We will consider each request on a need to buy basis. We will not buy for the sake of it.”
