Birmingham City FC appoint Vice-Chairman

Mon 18th Oct 2010 | Football Club Management

Birmingham City Football Club has appointed Dr Bruno Zheng Wu as the club's joint vice chairman, it has been announced.

Wu a leading Chinese businessman and media entrepreneur will be responsible for developing Chinese-related business and to expand the club's exposure in the country.

He is co-founder and former chairman of the Sun Media Group (SMG), which through its combined assets reaches 200 million consumers every month.

Wu previously worked as chief operating officer of ATV, one of the two free-to-air networks in Hong Kong, before becoming co-chairman of Sina Corporation, the world's leading Chinese internet media company.

Birmingham's other vice chairman, Peter Pannu, said: "With the appointment of Dr Wu, whose connections in the Far East are phenomenal, we are eagerly looking now at opportunities there.

"Due to Uefa’s financial Fair Play rules, we cannot pump money into the club unless we have earned it. We are mindful of this. The money has to be earned from somewhere."
