Wed 1st Sep 2010 | Football Club Management
Sheffield United Football Club have appointed David Harrop as the club’s new Finance Director.
David, aged 40, is no stranger to the Blades, as he joins from the wider Scarborough Group International (SGI), where, for the last three years, he has been Finance Director at SGI sister organisation, Forsyth Business Centres, and more recently has been working closely with the Hungarian club Ferencvaros which has strong links with United.
David, who has previously worked at Deloittes and Arriva, commented: “I am delighted to be joining Sheffield United and look forward to working closely with chief executive Trevor Birch and the team at the Lane. These are interesting times in football but at Sheffield United we believe we are well placed to take the club forward.”
Mr Birch said: “We are delighted to have David on board. He’s a strong character who brings with him great experience and skills, not only in the finance function, but also in general business acumen. He knows the group and has worked in the football industry before, so he will hit the ground running.”
