Soccerex Announce Host City Workshop
Wed 1st Sep 2010 | Football Industry Events
Soccerex are pleased to announce that the Soccerex Global Convention (20-24 November 2010, Rio de Janeiro) will feature a select Host City Best Practice workshop. This closed workshop is exclusive to host city representatives and is designed to bring the past South African and present Brazilian host cities together at the Convention to discuss the key issues behind the hosting of a successful World Cup. This is also an ideal opportunity for the hosts of bidding nations to gain an in-depth understanding of the challenges facing them in the coming years.
The workshop will feature an address from Danny Jordaan, CEO, South African Local Organising Committee, one of only two men in the world who have successfully overseen the bidding and hosting process for a FIFA World Cup. Sessions will include representatives from prominent South African host cities such as Johannesburg and Rustenburg, and will be discussing key issues such as marketing, commercial partnerships, infrastructure, security, transportation and accommodation.
Danny commented that, “I look forward to joining colleagues at the Soccerex Convention in Rio and sharing my experiences in hosting the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. I’m delighted to be going to Rio and to be helping Brazil build towards 2014 in the way that Soccerex helped South Africa build towards 2010.”
As well as a series of industry focussed workshops the Soccerex Global Convention (20-24 November 2010) will consist of an in-depth conference schedule, packed exhibition, a large range of networking and two-day Football Festival all taking place in the Forte de Copacabana, Copacabana beach and Sugar Loaf Mountain, Rio de Janeiro.
