Financial Director, Stefan Gamble, becomes Chief Executive and Assistant Club Secretary, Daniel Mole, takes over as Club Secretary, enabling Roy Whalley to focus solely on his role as Commercial Director.
Plans for the restructuring have been in place for two years as the club outlined a strategic plan to ensure continued progression both on and off the field.
Stefan joined the club in 2002 and has been a member of the Board of Directors for the past three years in the capacity of Financial Director. The 35 year-old’s role has continued to widen and develop, culminating in his appointment to the post of Chief Executive.
Like Stefan, Daniel, 30, also joined the club in 2002 as Press Officer. He has spent the last 18 months as Assistant Club Secretary and takes over the role as Club Secretary with immediate effect.
Roy joined the club in 1986, serving as Chief Executive, Club Secretary and Commercial Director.
During that 24-year period, the club have made great strides off the pitch and enjoyed the most successful period in their playing history. Roy has made an invaluable contribution to Walsall Football Club and will continue to do so in his role as Commercial Director.
“I am honoured to be appointed as Chief Executive,” explained Stefan. “I have been with the club for 8 years and have seen many changes take place in that time.
“This represents a real opportunity to build on the sound foundations already in place at the club and to introduce fresh new energy and ideas to play a key role in taking Walsall FC forward. To do this we need to continue to strengthen both on and off the field as well as increasing our supporter base.
“The club are already well positioned to pursue these goals and I will work diligently towards achieving them from the outset.”
“These changes will enable me to concentrate on my role as Commercial Director,” added Roy. “Commercial income is vital to the club and a lot of hard work is required if we are to increase our off-the-field revenue.
“In Stefan and Dan the club has two very able and committed individuals, who can take this club forward. These are exciting times for everyone connected with Walsall FC.”
