Wigan Athletic appoint new Chief Executive

Wed 12th May 2010 | Clubs Ownership

Wigan Athletic have appointed Jonathan Jackson as chief executive to replace Brenda Spencer, who is retiring after 25 years at the club.

Jackson, 43, who is finance director at leisure chain Total Fitness, will take up his post on 3 July.

He is the son of former president Stan Jackson - the man who persuaded Dave Whelan to take over as chairman.

"Jonathan is somebody I have known for a long time and he has an impeccable management track record," said Whelan.

"He is Wigan Athletic through and through and I believe he is the right man to take the club forward and I'm looking forward to welcoming him on board."
