Itaś and Adidas to Discuss why Brands Look to Football at Soccerex
Wed 9th Nov 2011 | Football Industry Events
Soccerex are delighted to announce that Claus-Peter Mayer - VP GSM Football, Marketing - Global Sports Marketing at Adidas and Fernando Chacon, Chief Marketing Officer at Banco Itaú, Latin America’s largest bank will be speaking on the “Football brands the World” panel at this year’s Soccerex Global Convention, 26-30 November 2011, in Rio de Janeiro.
Fernando and Claus-Peter will be joining Thierry Weil, Chief Marketing Officer at FIFA and Jean Claude Biver, CEO of luxury Swiss watch manufacturer Hublot to give insight on how brands use football as a platform for commercial growth in new markets. Speakers on the panel will draw on relevant case studies to present their views.
Both Banco Itaú and adidas have strong experience to draw from on the topic of brands and football. As an official partner adidas will also serve as Official Licensee and Supplier of the FIFA World Cup™ 2014. Adidas is the number one football brand in the world and has been inspired by football ever since the 1920s. The company founded by Adi Dassler has spent over 80 years meeting and exceeding the needs of footballers on the pitch. This dedication to the sport and its close relationships with athletes and teams enabled adidas to become an integral part of the history, the present and the future of football.
Commenting on his involvement with Soccerex, adidas’ Claus-Peter Mayer said that 'Football is the core sport for adidas and we have a long history of building the brand with the help of our strength in the sport. I am looking forward to discussing the relevance of Football for brands in the context of global events such as the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil.'
In 2008 Banco Itaú announced a six-year, US$90 million sponsorship deal with the Brazilian football federation (CBF) for all the national football teams including the Brazilian national team, the Olympic selection, Under-23, Under-20, Under-17, Under-15 and the Women’s National team. Banco Itaú have been involved with football for over 17 years having previously sponsored the Campeonato Brasileiro games, Copa do Brasil, World Cup qualification matches and a series of friendly games. Banco Itaú has more recently been announced as National Sponsors of the 2014 FIFA World CupTM.
‘To have adidas and Banco Itaú participate on this panel alongside FIFA and Hublot makes this session an A-class master class for brands in the world of football. You could not get four more principal players than the ones confirmed; it really is truly inspirational and an absolute honour to have them on board,’ said Duncan Revie, CEO, Soccerex.
‘Football brands the World’ is part of an impressive conference line-up at this year’s Soccerex Global Convention. Other topics that will be discussed include the 2014 FIFA World CupTM, Stadia, Sustainability, Social Media, Club Commercial Strategies and exclusive sessions with some of the game’s biggest names past and present.
As well as this in-depth conference schedule, the Soccerex Global Convention will consist of a packed exhibition, a large range of networking events and a two-day Football Festival taking place in the Forte de Copacabana and on the iconic Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro.
