Rangers Invest £3m on Stadium Upgrades

Rangers will unfurl their 54th league championship flag before Saturday’s game against Hearts as the Craig Whyte/Ally McCoist era gets under way and the Club has confirmed today (Thursday 21 July, 2011) that £3 million is being invested in upgrading Ibrox Stadium to enhance the overall matchday experience for our supporters. 

Food kiosks will be upgraded throughout the ground, the entire Govan Stand has already been refurbished, and these new facilities will offer supporters greater choice, quality and an improved service. 

The Club installed a new, state-of-the art sound system during the summer that will improve the matchday atmosphere and enhance the stadium as a concert venue while further investment will go towards replacement screens later in the season.

Replacement screens have been requested by our supporters for some time and we have taken that feedback on board and they will be in place in due course.

New vinyls will be unveiled at Saturday’s game reflecting an exciting start to the season and commemorating our record breaking success. These will be in place until replacement screens are installed while tributes to the Founding Fathers and the Ibrox Disaster victims will be located at a permanent site at the stadium - again the Club has listened to fan feedback on this subject.

Rangers, who won the SPL Family Champions Award last season, has also invested heavily in the Family Section of the Broomloan Stand and young supporters can now enjoy improved pre-match entertainment - which includes a matchday DJ, free face painting, prizes for children, special themed days and visits from club mascot Broxi Bear.

The Family Section will also house a new family friendly toilet facility and Rangers are the only side in Scotland to offer this service. Further improvements to the Ibrox infrastructure will continue throughout season 2011/12. 

Ali Russell, Rangers Football Club’s Chief Operating Officer, commented: “Ibrox is a traditional, elite football stadium and we have worked throughout the summer to upgrade a number of key areas with the sole intention of enhancing the matchday experience for our supporters. 

“£3 million has been allocated for upgrades including refurbished food kiosks, a state-of-the-art PA system, replacement big screens at Ibrox and a number of family friendly upgrades that I am sure our fans will be delighted with. 

“Rangers supporters deserve a winning team on the park and a top class environment to enjoy their football and we aim to deliver both in Season 2011/12 and beyond.”
