Chairman of UEFA Financial Fair Play Panel to join the debate at Leaders
Mon 11th Jul 2011 | Football Industry Events
Former Belgian Prime Minister Jean-Luc Dehaene, Chairman of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play Control Panel and who Michel Platini described as the man in charge of the economic destiny of European football, will take part in the discussion on football finances at the 4th annual Leaders in Football conference on 5th and 6th October 2011 at Chelsea FC.
Michel Platini has led the debate around a sustainable, regulated football model in Europe to protect the purity of competition and create a more level playing field for the 660 top division clubs scattered across 53 European countries. The result is UEFA’s Financial Fair Play system which will be phased in over the next 3 years and become mandatory from 2013/14 season.
Jean Luc Dehaene will play a key role in the success of the system as the Committee he Chairs will have powers to exclude clubs from European competitions if the rules are breached. The system is currently being phased in over a 3 year period to 2012 after which the system will become mandatory with the Club Financial Control Panel being able to impose sanctions based on financial statements from the 2011/12 and 2012/13 reporting periods,
Jean Luc joins several big name signings for Leaders in Football in recent weeks including David Bernstein, Chairman of the Football Association; Greg Clarke, Chairman of the Football League as well as FIFA ExCo Members, Dr Michel D’Hooghe and Jim Boyce.
Leaders in Football takes place within the Leaders Sports Summit, a coming together of 5 leading conferences including Sponsorship, Digital Sport, Performance and the business of Horse Racing, over 5th and 6th October at Chelsea FC.
