Aldershot appoint Graham Baker as Head of Youth
Thu 7th Jul 2011 | Football Club Management
Aldershot Town Football Club have announced the appointment of Graham Baker as Head of Youth.
The 52 year old arrives with a wealth of experience as a player and in management too. Southampton born Baker made over 300 senior appearances for his home town club, Manchester City and Fulham and also appeared for the England Under 21 team.
Graham spent a period on loan at Aldershot in 1990 netting two goals in seven appearances. He became the Youth Development Officer at Woking in 2005 and spent six years at the Surrey club where he was also first team manager.
Graham will commence his new employment immediately building on the excellent work of his predecessor Tim Coe who departed the club last month to concentrate on a new career outside of football.
Speaking to Premium Shots Graham said, “I am delighted to join Aldershot Town and pleased to be selected from the interview process.
“I am really looking forward to working with the management team. Since the club has been in the Football League Tim Coe has left a wonderful foundation and there is a solid platform to build from. Good progress has already been made and we will continue to nurture and develop players for the benefit of the first team manager. It is an exciting period to be involved at the club.”
Manager Dean Holdsworth added, “I am very pleased to have Graham working within the structure of the club. He will bring a lot of professionalism and a good mix of discipline and knowledge to the youth department and this is another step forward after losing Tim Coe earlier in the summer. Graham will provide his own ideas and experience which will be invaluable to the scholars at the club.”
Speaking on behalf of the club Richard Petty added, “We welcome Graham to Aldershot Town. This appointment demonstrates the calibre of people that we can attract to the club.”
