Walsall Boss Joins Impressive Line Up at Total Football Show.

Thu 16th Jun 2011 | Football Industry Events

Walsall Manager Dean Smith has become the latest figure to join the line up of celebrities and stars for the inaugural Total Football Show at the National Sports Centre in Lilleshall next month.

Smith, whose appointment in January helped inspire Walsall’s fight to avoid relegation from League One, will take part in the show’s seminar programme where he’ll debate the future of lower league football in front of a live audience of football professionals and football supporters.

The seminar programme is just one part of a full programme of events over a three-day period and other speakers include, Wolves Legend Steve Bull, former Birmingham, Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion striker, Kevin Phillips and ex-referee Keith Hackett.

Smith has been recruited by his old boss at Sheffield Wednesday, Chris Turner who is now Director of Football for the Total Football Show and Smith’s involvement means he will also be able to watch Walsall’s Academy youngsters in action at Lilleshall.

The Total Football Show event includes knockout tournaments for professional Academy teams at under-16 level as well grassroots teams from across the country and Walsall’s Academy has confirmed their presence in July.

Smith Said: "The Total Football Show promises to be a great event for anyone involved in the game at any level.

“I'm looking forward to meeting fans as well as professionals from all areas of the industry and to being part of a programme that will discuss many of the game's key issues.

“I know Chris from our days together at Sheffield Wednesday and together with him and the likes of Steve Bull, Kevin Phillips and Gary Speed, there'll be some great discussion in the build up to the new season."

The show also includes a full football exhibition displaying the latest in football products and technology and the chance to view and possibly take part in coaching sessions with the Wales Manager, Gary Speed, Kevin Phillips, Steve Bull and another ex-Wolves striker Ade Akinbiyi.
