Oldham fails to pay player wages this month

Oldham Athletic Football Club’s players have not been paid their wages for February.
In a statement on the club website, they confirmed that the squad had not been paid on Friday because of a "cash-flow issue".
"We can confirm that the players' wages were not paid on Friday due to a cash-flow issue.
“This is expected to be a short-term problem which has been created by the withdrawal of development investors after Oldham Council failed to receive permission from the Charity Commission for the swap of the trust status on the land adjacent to the Lancaster Club.
Earlier this month, the clubs plan to build a new stadium with an initial capacity of 12,000 as well as providing a new base for Oldham Community Trust and 3G artificial grass pitches was rejected by the Charity Commission.
Oldham had hoped to deliver a new sustainable leisure development which would have provided a huge boost to the local area.
The Commission stated it was "not satisfied" that the proposed swap from Boundary Park was in the interests of the charity.
In spite of this, Oldham said “Everything is being done to try and ensure that the players receive their pay as soon as possible which is expected to be within the next three days.”
They also confirmed that the ground and club had not been sold.
