New Department And New Recruit At Huddersfield Town
Tue 16th Feb 2010 | Marketing & PR
Huddersfield Town has recruited a leading light in sports marketing to head up a new department at the Club.
Mark Davies joined Town at the beginning of February as Business Development Manager and has been tasked with stepping up the Club’s relationship with its commercial partners, as well as undertaking a complete review of our membership schemes.
Mark, 28, has a Masters degree in Sports Law, combined with a plethora of experience within the football industry. He has previously worked as Marketing Manager at Southend United, where he undertook a Business Development role as the Shrimpers won the Football League ‘2009 Family Club of the Year’ award; prior to that post, he was Marketing and Customer Services Manager at Coventry City.
He has been joined in the new ‘Partnerships’ department by Cammie Batten, who has been instrumental at Town in driving the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. The department will look after existing club partners such as the YAA, Thomas Cook and Yorkshire Building Society to name a few, as well as look to cultivate new partnerships with local and national enterprises.
Huddersfield Town Commercial Director Sean Jarvis commented on the new department: “The Club, in the New Era, has - and continues to – attract an increasing number of business partners. That growth has allowed us to recruit Mark. It’s our intention to continue to develop this and improve the commercial offering to fans and corporate supporters alike.”
Speaking of Mark’s appointment, Jarvis added: “It’s our intention to continue to attract the right calibre of individuals off the field and I’ve been aware of Mark for a couple of years. I’ve been impressed with his work in Essex and I am delighted that he can join us to lead this new department.
“The Club’s commercial activity has expanded at a rapid rate during the ‘New Era’ and with an ever-growing amount of commercial partners managing those relationships has become a full-time task.
“Hopefully Mark and Cammie can help the Club continue that growth over the coming seasons.”
On his appointment, Mark said: “I, like everyone else within the football industry have been aware of the buzz surrounding Huddersfield Town for some time now and was eager to be a part of it.
“I met with Sean (Jarvis), Nigel (Clibbens) and the Chairman Dean Hoyle and was particularly impressed with the ambition and values of the Club and the journey it is taking. I’m now delighted to be part of this journey.
“I’m told that Huddersfield Town is a Club at the heart of the town, and that the supporters are the heart of the Club. That’s the way it should be, where football is a way of life, and I believe that is a key component in any successful football club and community.
“It is clear to see the progress made on and off the field here and I want to help drive this Club forward. I’m an ambitious person and I’ve joined a Club which shares the same ambition and I can’t wait to get properly started.”
