Liverpool FC sponsors would love 'Asian' owners

Liverpool Football Club’s new sponsor Standard Chartered has said it would “love” the club to be taken over by an Asian investor.
American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett are looking for a buyer for Liverpool and several Asian groups, including Hong Kong’s QSL Sports and India’s Sahara were linked with the club before pulling out.
UK-based Standard Charter, which gets more than three-quarters of its profit from Asia, began a four-year shirt sponsorship deal with Liverpool on July 1.
Gavin Laws, the company’s group head of corporate affairs, said that an Asian owner would be “fantastic for us” and added: “We would love to have an owner who recognised the markets we operate in.”
Laws believes the company is already getting value for money from its first sponsorship of a sports team.
“To try and buy the airtime we got from just the opening game against Arsenal across the world would have cost me at least what we’re paying for four years,” he continued.
