STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE LEAGUE MANAGERS ASSOCIATION

Tue 2nd Feb 2010 | Legal

The League Managers Association (LMA) can confirm that Mark Cooper and Peterborough United have parted company after Cooper received formal notice of termination of his employment from the football club with immediate effect.

Cooper started his managerial career at Tamworth and then moved to Kettering Town before taking charge of Peterborough on November 14, 2009.

Cooper stated;

“I am deeply shocked and saddened that my contract with Peterborough United has been terminated. I would like to offer my sincere thanks to all of the players, all of whom have been 100% behind me, and also to my staff. Finally, I would like to thank the fans for their support and wish the club every success in the future.”

Commenting on Cooper's departure, LMA Chief Executive, Richard Bevan, said;

"When Mark took over as manager of Peterborough United they were in a relegation battle and in the relegation zone. It is very disappointing for a club to part with a manager after only 13 games in charge when there are still 18 league games to play this season. I am sure that a manager of Mark’s potential, will be back in management in the not too distant future."
