Wolves Sign Lucrative Three-Year Kit Deal
Thu 6th May 2010 | Football Sponsorship
Performance sportswear company Burrda has confirmed the signing of a three-year kit deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers, the largest in the Premier League club's 133-year history.
Details of the lucrative new agreement will see Burrda supply home and away kits for the 2010/2011 season as well as range of branded training wear.
Although the Wolves deal is Burrda's first move into soccer sponsorship in the UK, the Swiss owned company already boasts an impressive portfolio and currently provides kits for the Kuwait and Qatar national teams, as well as with teams in several other sports.
Jez Moxey, Wolves' chief executive said: "Today's announcement represents the end of a thorough process to secure a new kit manufacturer that combines quality products for our fans with the best possible commercial deal for the football club. The type of and size of this deal reflects the global reach of the Premier League. Burrda are a very good fit for our football club, who can also hopefully extend our contacts across Continental Europe and the Middle East. We look forward to enjoying a strong working relationship with Burrda over the next three years,
"We've listened to fans' ideas on designs throughout the year and, together with Burrda, we've come up with simple, retro style designs, using state-of-the-art technical material."
Burrda's general manager, Charles Diab added: "We've always planned to enter the UK football market and when the chance came with a club steeped in history as Wolves is, we knew the fit was right. We congratulate Mick McCarthy and the team on their success this season and feel confident the timing coincides with the club enjoying an extended stay in the Premier League."
The home kit will be unveiled for the first time on Sunday May 9th 2010 at home against Sunderland, in the final game of the Premier League season. Wolves currently lie 16th in the Barclays Premier League.
