Former Crystal Palace Chairman to buy back the club
Mon 22nd Mar 2010 | Clubs Ownership
Former Crystal Palace chairman Ron Noades will try to buy the club back in the summer.
Noades, chairman for 17 years until 1998, wants to buy the ground, then make an offer to former owner and now chief creditor Simon Jordan.
He is owed around £18million by Palace, who are in administration. He is prepared to write off around £3m but Noades is only prepared to pay half of the £15m Jordan wants.
In a unique initiative, the fans' sponsorship is proving a massive success with just over £20,000 now raised. The Crystal Palace Supporters Trust will be the shirt sponsors for the game against Preston North End on April 5th. Current sponsors GAC Logistics agreed to the scheme which will help the club generate much needed additional revenue.
Fans who participate in this scheme will also see their name appear on a poster in the matchday programme and on the big screen in the stadium at half time within a scroll of honour.
