Soccer academy set for expansion

A Bolton soccer academy for youngsters is looking to expand across the country with plans to franchise the model and spread its message of football and fair play.
Strikerz is the brainchild of Dave Flitcroft, assistant manager at Rochdale FC, who decided to set up the academy to help spread the footballing philosophy promoted by his father John Flitcroft, who died in 2008.
Dave has designed a training programme that sets itself apart by including moral values, positive behaviour and peer respect alongside traditional football skills.
Dave said: “We have got a programme that can help kids of all ages and abilities, and we work with parents to help them understand our philosophy and be part of their child's journey.”
The academy, advised by Wilds Chartered Accountants, now has a plan to establish 10 new franchises within a year, teaching 900 youngsters.
Mick Seddon, business development director at Wilds, said: “We’re delighted to be working alongside Strikerz, which is already showing huge potential to expand.”
