Chester City 'wound-up' over unpaid tax bill

It has been confirmed that Chester City have been wound up in the High Court over an unpaid tax bill today.
The 125-year-old club who had no representation at court today, owed HM Revenue & Customs £26,125.
The club who were expelled from the Blue Square Premier League last month failed to fulfil their last two fixtures.
However, City Fans United, a supporters group, have vowed to start a new club in a lower league. Spokesman David Evans said: "125 years of history have been extinguished today but that's just the body of the club - its soul lives on.
"Today is the day to say to everybody that our club will be run in a professional way and be a credit to our city and to football.
"Our model is AFC Wimbledon or AFC Telford, where a new club has been run on a very prudent basis. We want to atone for the way the club has been run - we see this as our responsibility even though it wasn't our fault."
Southend United also appeared in the High Court today to face winding-up proceedings.
The League One club were given a further 35 days to pay a tax bill of almost £200,000 after Ron Martin, their chairman, managed to win an adjournment and now have until April 14 to settle up.
The troubled Shrimpers have been forced to use a loan from the PFA to help pay the players' wages for January, meaning they are now under a transfer embargo.
