St Albans City Football Club announces new Chairman
Wed 1st Jun 2011 | Clubs Ownership
St Albans City Football Club has announced the appointment of Ian Ridley as Chairman.
Ridley, a writer and journalist who has lived in the area for 30 years, will assume overall responsibility for playing matters involving the first team and also have input into two other main areas: sponsorship and marketing, along with press and public relations.
“I have always said I would be willing to help the club if it felt I could do so and so was happy to talk to Lawrence Levy and John McGowan when they approached me after taking over the club,” said Ridley.
“Having heard their plans, I felt I could bring something to the club and I look forward to trying to help make Clarence Park a happy and friendly place to come to again, along with playing a part in making the first team more successful.”
Added Saints co-owner Levy: “John and I are pleased to welcome Ian to the club. His in-depth knowledge of and passion for the game should help guide this football club to greater things in the future. As a regular visitor to Clarence Park, he is well liked and respected by our fans, which was a key factor in our wish for him come on board”.
Ridley will attend the fans’ forum at the clubhouse on Friday evening where he will take questions from supporters.
The club played in the Conference South league in the 2010-2011 season. They will play in the Zamaretto League Premier Division in Season 2011/12 after being relegated on 9 April 2011.
