Thai Premier League officials meet Huddersfield Town board of Directors

Fri 26th Feb 2010 | Marketing & PR

The Huddersfield Town Board of Directors welcomed a delegation from the Thai Premier League to the Club earlier this week as part of the Football Association’s international development program.

Thai Premier League President Worawi Makudi requested that a party of representatives from the nation’s top division be allowed to visit England to exchange best practice ideas in order to increase their experience and knowledge of how to run a football club.

Huddersfield Town Chairman Dean Hoyle, along with Chief Executive Nigel Clibbens and Directors Ann Hough and Sean Jarvis, welcomed the delegation with a short presentation on ‘The New Era’ at the Club which described some of our developments and initiatives away from the pitch over the past season, such as the five nominations at the Football League Awards the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Town’s work with partners such as the Hollybank Trust.

The visit concluded with a tour of the Galpharm Stadium before the group settled down for a few pictures for the sizeable contingent of press from Thailand.

“Everyone at the Club was delighted and honoured to be asked by the FA to host the party from the Thai Premier League earlier this week,” Chief Executive Nigel Clibbens explained.

“We are proud of our achievements under Dean Hoyle over the past 12 months and it is a testament to everyone here at the Club that the FA thought of us as a good example of ‘best practice’ and to showcase English football for the Thai delegation.”

As well as visiting the Terriers, the delegation also visited Crewe Alexandra and Brentford and took in the Manchester City vs. Liverpool game on Sunday afternoon. They also had guided tours of Manchester United’s Old Trafford ground and the new Wembley Stadium.

The Thai Premier League was formed in 1996 and up until recently, Kiatisuk Senamuang – the Thai striker more commonly known as ‘Zico’, who spent a year at Huddersfield Town back in 1999 – was a manager in the division. However, he recently left Chonburi FC to take over as boss of Vietnamese side Hoang Anh Gia Lai.
