Briatore resigns from QPR

Wed 24th Feb 2010 | Clubs Ownership

Flavio Briatore is no longer the chairman of Queens Park Rangers Football Club.

Briatore bought the club along with Bernie Ecclestone of Formula One fame in September 2000. Briatore and Ecclestone will continue to hold their shares in the club.

Briatore said,"My three years as chairman of QPR have been an exciting and incredible experience. I'm proud to have helped save this historical club and to have contributed in paving the way to its future success." Gianni Paladini will take on the role of chairman of the Loftus Road club once again.

Amit Bhatia, son-in-law of the fifth richest man in the world Lakshmi Mittal, will increase his shareholding in the club as a result of this change. Briatore and Ecclestone brought Bhatia into the club in December 2007 with a 20 percent stake and a seat in the board.
