Heart of Midlothian Football Club announced a new shirt sponsorship deal with Wonga.com
The online, short-term loans company has agreed a two-year contract with the Edinburgh club and will replace Ukio Bankas on the front of the shirts for all matches from next season.
Wonga.com is the main sponsor of Blackpool FC in the Barclays Premier League and the broadcast partner of The FA Cup on ESPN in England.
Their link-up with Hearts sees them move into Scottish football for the first time and Hearts Managing Director David Southern said: “We are delighted with this new sponsorship deal.
“It is a first for Hearts and for Scottish football and is reflective of our aim to attract new top class corporate partners to Hearts. Wonga is an excellent national financial brand with a drive and determination to expand and, as one of the country’s leading football clubs, we are looking forward to developing a partnership that will deliver significant benefits to both parties.”
Errol Damelin, founder and CEO of Wonga.com, said: “Hearts is a club with a great history and they are having a really strong season, so we were very keen to support them when the opportunity came up. The Club shows real class, on and off the pitch, and we’re excited about being involved from next season onwards.
“We have a lot of happy customers in Scotland and, like us, many are passionate football fans, so we are keen for the partnership to benefit supporters, the Club and our brand.”
