Belper Town reveal new chairman
Wed 20th Apr 2011 | Clubs Ownership
Belper Town Football Club has announced that Vaughan Williams has been appointed as its new Chairman.
Williams takes over the reins from Phillip Varney who had held the position since 1988 and who will remain as a director of the club.
The new Chairman has previously been involved with non league football, having previously been associated with Evo-Stik League side, Carlton Town.
Announcing his involvement, Williams said; “I have been really impressed with the set-up at Belper but it is a club that really needs to make the most of its excellent facilities and its superb administrative reputation, in particular David Laughlin’s dedication to the club, this has inspired me to be part of Belper Town FC.
“I am really passionate about football and have come to Belper determined to drive the club forward and to make it into a real success on the pitch, something I know that the directors and supporters are desperate to make a reality.
“We need to re-energise the club, provide the supporters with a successful team and bring the missing spectators back to Christchurch Meadow.
“I will be taking personal control of the commercial activities of the club and to help generate the finances that we feel will be necessary to mount a promotion challenge next season.
“I have been thrilled and honoured to be asked to become Chairman of Belper Town Football Club and with the imminent appointment of a new manager, I am convinced that we can take the club to the next level and to sustain our position higher up the non league system.
“Fans will find me approachable and willing to answer their questions about how we intend to build on what has been achieved so far and how we hope to breathe new life into the club.
