Tom Hicks Jnr Resigns as Director of Liverpool FC

Tom Hicks Jr has resigned as a director of Liverpool following the furious reaction to the foul-mouthed e-mail he sent to a supporter.
This morning Liverpool announced that Hicks had succumbed to the pressure to resign from the board of the club and its parent company, Kop Holdings.
His resignation has lead to re-shuffle of the Anfield boardroom, with Ian Ayre, the club’s commercial director, and Philip Nash, the financial officer and Casey Coffman, executive vice-president of Hicks Holdings being elected to both the board of the club and its parent company.
"Liverpool Football Club today announce that Thomas Hicks Jr has resigned as a director of both the club and its parent company Kop Holdings," a club statement read.
Hicks Jr’s resignation will be welcomed by large sections of Liverpool’s support, non more so than The Spirit of Shankly (SOS), fans’ campaign group committed to the removal of Hicks and Gillett.
They released a statement demanding the immediate resignation of Hicks Jr. and were also heavily critical of the Liverpool hierarchy for remaining silent on the matter.
The American tycoons made big promises on buying Liverpool in February 2007, but have since taken the club into debt, failed to deliver the promised new stadium, restricted Rafael Benitez’s spending in the transfer market and, perhaps most damagingly of all, alienated the supporters.
