Bangor City's Farrar Road ground to be replaced by Asda

Tue 12th Apr 2011 | Football Stadiums & Facilities

Bangor's Farrar Road football ground is to be demolished and replaced by a supermarket.

Councillors in Gwynedd have granted planning permission for the development that will create 240 jobs.

It will allow the Welsh Premier League side to move to a new stadium with a site at Nantporth already earmarked.

Plans to redevelop Dickies boatyard in Bangor into housing and the old Post Office at Deiniol Road into a nightclub were also approved.

The football club has been looking to move from Farrar Road, its home since the 1920s, for the past 10 years.

At a planning meeting on Monday Deiniol Developments was granted permission for the supermarket along with associated road changes and landscaping.
