QPR have moved to quell the rumours circulating that the club was about to be sold.
In a statement released on the club’s website, they confirmed that they had entered negotiations regarding the potential sale of a 67% stake in the club.
“In response to recent press speculation relating the potential sale of a 67% shareholding in QPR Holdings Limited (the 'Company'), the Company confirms that it has entered into preliminary discussions, which may or may not result in an offer being made.”
It is understood that Formula 1 boss, Bernie Ecclestone is looking to sell his 62% stake in the club with another 5% coming from one of the other shareholders.
The club which is currently top of the Championship table is part owned by Ecclestone and the Mittal family.
However, the club did move to say that any potential deal was a long way off, “It is emphasised that these talks are at an early stage, and that there is no certainty that an offer for the Company will be forthcoming.”
