Virgin Media is standing up for away football fans in a ground-breaking campaign which launches across key channels tomorrow (Friday 7 April).

In a football-first, Virgin Media is going to subsidise tickets of away supporters of every club in the Premier League to £20.

The pioneering move is part of the Twenty’s Plenty initiative – a campaign led by the Football Supporters’ Federation (FSF) and supported by Virgin Media.

Fans will be reimbursed for tickets costing above £20 for a single away fixture at all top-tier clubs – with the majority of matches held between 15 and 23 April.

To reach football fans across the UK, Virgin Media is launching a multi-million pound marketing campaign across Out-of-Home, print, radio, social media and VOD.  It’s also leveraging the partnership with the FSF to reach and engage with fans, fan groups and wider football influencers.

Last year, the company became the official shirt sponsor of Southampton FC, and is making games cheaper for away fans by subsidising their tickets to £20 – which has so far benefited more than 20,000 supporters travelling to St Mary’s stadium,

Kerris Bright, Chief Marketing Officer of Virgin Media, said: “We want to be part of a positive change for Premier League football fans across the country and are stepping up by subsidising away tickets to £20.

“This is our way of making the brand stand out from our competitors, where we’re firmly putting fans at the heart of the game and getting behind the issues they care about.

“We want supporters to see the positive impact Virgin Media is having in football and what we can offer them.”

Kevin Miles, Chief Executive of the FSF, said: “The Football Supporters’ Federation has a long-standing rally cry – Twenty’s Plenty for Away Tickets.

“We’re delighted that Virgin Media has helped make that a reality at many upcoming top-flight games.

“Thanks to this Twenty’s Plenty deal, tens of thousands of top-flight fans could potentially save hundreds of thousands of pounds in the coming weeks. It’s a great idea.”

As away Premier League tickets are capped at £30, fans will receive up to a £10 reimbursement from Virgin Media following their team’s match.

Fans can claim their subsidy after their team’s match by visiting www.virginmedia.com/twentysplenty, downloading a form, and posting it along with their ticket. A cheque will be sent to them in the following weeks.
